Scott Watkins, PGA
Scott Watkins is continuing the legacy of his father, Arch Watkins, Papago’s first head professional from 1963 to 1981. A three-time state champion at Coronado High School, Scott achieved Pac-10 Player of the Year and First-Team All-American honors in 1979 at Arizona State University. Breaking into the PGA TOUR at 22 in 1980, he later realized tour life wasn’t his calling, leading him back to Phoenix for a career as an instructor. Despite the shift, Watkins remained competitive in PGA Southwest Section tournaments, securing victories in the Southwest Section Championship four times and the Arizona Open once. His successes also earned him exemptions into PGA TOUR tournaments in Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Vegas.
Scott has also been a Five-Time Nominee for Golf Magazines Top 100 Golf Instructors, with rankings of 9th in 2009, 12th in 2010, 11th in 2011 and 7th in 2013 and been selected as the Southwest Section PGA Teacher of the Year.
